DARWIN 86 ALEXA
SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHED
The Darwin Class continues to be a successful choice for Cantiere delle Marche. The range's distinct character, design, technical features, and equipment appeal to highly motivated owners who wish to explore remote areas of the globe.
Alexa is the seventh Darwin 86 to be launched since the yard started its activity in 2010. It adds up to a total of twelve Darwins from 86 to 112 feet delivered or close to delivery. The Darwin 86 Alexa is a genuine beauty of construction and design boasting the unmistakable Darwin aesthetics by Hydro Tec while leveraging on CdM's unique approach to technical areas: she has been designed to sail thousands of miles a year and both quality of construction, materials and technical equipment are critical to simplify the yacht's daily handling and upkeep.
"All explorer yachts built by Cantiere delle Marche are known for their inherent quality and
superior technical equipment, making them unparalleled in seaworthiness, redundant equipment, robust
steel hulls, spacious engine rooms, and ample storage. These features, combined with efficient fuel
consumption and remarkable range, define our philosophy that 'good enough' is never sufficient,
especially for long-distance, adventurous cruising, we can safely say that the Darwin Class has undoubtedly
become a benchmark in the explorer yacht market."

co-founder and CEO of CdM
The interiors have been developed by Floris Design, a long-time collaborator with Cantiere delle Marche since the yard’s foundation. “The brief from the Owner was to have a practical and functional boat without sacrificing elegance and comfort,” says Pierluigi Floris. “The yacht can host up to nine guests in four cabins skillfully arranged on the Lower Deck, which also features a spa with a sauna, shower, and relaxation area. The spa is available to all guests but can be transformed into a private area connected to the owner’s cabin via a sliding door. The overall ambiance exudes relaxed and conspicuous elegance, achieved through a warm color palette that blends earthy tones into a well-balanced ensemble.”
The project, customized according to his Owner precise requests, is designed to sail for long
periods at the highest latitudes therefore Alexa features enhanced scantlings in the hull and
rudders to cope with icy conditions. The Upper deck stern terrace will be built in steel instead of
aluminium. All floors are heated and it is possible to close the cockpit to allow guests to enjoy the
landscape even when the outside temperature is very low.
Social areas, on both the Main and Upper deck feature bespoke furniture coupled to pieces of
loose furniture by renowned manufacturers. Crew quarters are located on the Main deck forward
next to both the galley and a large crew mess and directly connected with a dedicated staircase to
the wheelhouse on the Upper deck. Among the Owner’s requests there are a fourth pilot station on
the Sun deck and two additional fridges to store garbage on long passages. The new Darwin 86 is
powered by twin Man engines delivering 500hp each.
